Alameda County
Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Campaign
The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a refundable federal income tax credit for low-income working individuals and families. Census data show that the EITC lifts more children out of poverty than any other single program or category of programs.*
Urban Strategies Council serves as a Coordinating Agency for the Alameda County EITC Campaign. The Campaign sponsors 24 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites across Alameda County and supports asset development strategies linked to the EITC campaign. The Council serves on the Steering Committee of the Campaign and is responsible for the data collection component. Additionally, we provide programmatic support and strategic planning for the campaign, concentrating on asset development strategies (see Alameda County CAN) in particular.
