What and Why

Urban Strategies Council is working with local and national partners to improve public safety in low-income neighborhoods including developing and implementing effective strategies for parolee reentry, violence prevention, and community policing.

Reentry

The Council is working with local and national partners to improve the community reentry process such that the needs of both the formerly incarcerated and the communities to which they return are being met.

Violence Prevention

The Council is working with local and national partners to prevent and reduce the level of violence in Oakland, Alameda County and Contra Costa County.

Community Policing

The Council is working with the Oakland Police Department, Alameda County Probation Department and community organizations to improve the implementation of community policing in Oakland.
