About Urban Strategies Council

Our mission is to eliminate persistent poverty by working with partners to transform low-income neighborhoods into vibrant, healthy communities

Center for Community Builders

Assessment and Evaluation Tools Project

The Council is coordinating and managing the development of user-friendly training materials and tools for community builders that will provide instruction on how to conduct community assessments and program evaluations. This project is being carried out under the auspices of the Center for Community Builders.

Working in partnership with Building Community Technology Partners, National Community Building Network, Development Leadership Network, and Education Development Corporation, we will develop, design, field test, and disseminate a curriculum geared to community residents that will teach them how to conduct their own assessments and evaluations. The tools that are produced through this project will be offered to communities through an interactive DVD-ROM format as well as a more standard training manual. The project is funded the Waitt Institute, the Annie E. Casey Foundation, and the Marguerite Casey Foundation.
