About the Center

The goal of the Center is to elevate the voices, experiences and influence of practitioners in the development of the community building field. The concept is based on the belief that practitioners, who through their collective struggles uncover solutions to the challenges of rebuilding communities, should have a vehicle for sharing their knowledge and skills to improve practice in the field. More specifically, the Center will address critical needs of practitioners through development of three Institutes including:

  • A Community Builders' Training Institute focused on providing professional development, training and peer technical assistance;
  • A Financing and Sustainability Institute focused on providing technical assistance on sustainability and resource development, and providing direct resource support to community building efforts; and
  • A Tools Development Institute focused on developing information and tools for practitioners in the areas of research and evaluation, lessons and effective practice models, policy development and advocacy, organizational development and technology.
