Directions to Urban Strategies Council

Urban Strategies Council is located in Thornton House, # 672 13th Street in Preservation Park. It is a teal colored house and is the 5th house on the right hand side facing the fountain.

BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit)

Preservation Park is just a few short blocks away from Downtown Oakland's City Center Bart Station (12th Street and Broadway). Exit BART and walk up stairs to the City Center shopping plaza. Walk west through City Center, cross Clay Street, continue walking west through Federal Building, cross Jefferson Street and continue walking west. Cross MLK Jr. Way and enter Preservation Park.

From San Francisco Airport

Take Route 101 North to San Francisco. Continue through San Francisco to the Bay Bridge (I-80 East). Take the Bay Bridge to the East Bay and follow signs to I-580 East. Follow I-580 to I-980 Downtown Oakland and take the 11th/12th Street exit. Turn left on 11th. Go two blocks on 11th to Martin Luther King Jr. Way, turn left. Go two blocks to 13th and Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The Park entrance is at 13th Street on the left.

From San Francisco

Take the Bay Bridge (I-80) to the East Bay and follow signs to I-580 East. Follow I-580 to I-980 Downtown Oakland and take the llth/12th Street exit. Turn left on 11th. Go two blocks on 11th to Martin Luther King Jr. Way, turn left. Go two blocks to 13th and Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The Park entrance is at 13th Street on the left.

From Hayward, South Bay, San Jose and Palo Alto

Travel north on I-880 to the Broadway exit (Downtown Oakland). Turn left on 12th Street. Go three blocks to Martin Luther King Jr. Way, turn right. Travel one block to 13th Street. The Park entrance is at 13th Street on the left.

From Oakland Airport

When leaving the airport, follow the signs to Hegenberger Road to I-880 North. Travel north on I-880 to the Broadway exit (Downtown Oakland). Turn left on 12th Street. Go three blocks to Martin Luther King Jr. Way, turn right. Travel one block to 13th Street. The Park entrance is at 13th Street on the left.

From North Berkeley

Take I-80 West to I-580 and follow signs to I-980 (Downtown Oakland). Take the 11th/12th Street exit. Turn left on 11th. Go two blocks on 11th to Martin Luther King Jr. Way, turn left. Go two blocks to 13th and Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The Park entrance is at 13th Street on the left.

From Contra Costa County

Take Hwy. 24 West to I-580 and follow signs to I-980 (Downtown Oakland). Take the 11th/12th Street exit. Turn left on 11th. Go two blocks on 11th to Martin Luther King Jr. Way, turn left. Go two blocks to 13th and Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The Park entrance is at 13th Street on the left.

Parking

Center City West Garage is located across the street from the Park's main entrance (13th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way). The garage's main entrance is on Jefferson Street (1 block parallel to Martin Luther King Jr. Way) between 12th and 14th Street.
