GIS Community and Presentations
Urban Strategies Council's Research & Tech staff are avid promoters of the use of geospatial (mapping) technology in all the fields we work in. We regularly host training events for residents and local partners and take an active role in conferences and communities of practice to further the use and application of GIS in our community. This page will be highlighting our recent pressentations and current training opportunities.
- One of our Oakland Crime maps was featured this week in the opening plenary presentation by the CEO of esri - Jack Dangermond - as an example of how GIS is used in crime analysis. These maps were developed as part of our partnership with the Oakland Police Department:
Video of our Research & Technology Director's Lightning Talk at the ESRI UC 2010 in San Diego: topic is Disengaged Decision Making - 5 minutes only on auto-forward.
- Presentation on the top tech resources for non profit organizations given at the Craigslist Foundation Bootcamp in October 2008 (PPT 3.5MB)
Our Research & Technology team is supported by a generous software donation from ESRI's Conservation Grants progam.
