Alameda County Violence Prevention Data Work Group
The Council is a member of the Data and Evaluation work Group, convened by Alameda County Public Health Department, to work on data collection and research related to violence and violence prevention and Blueprint Implementation. The Work Group aims to establish a coordinated data collection and analysis process, as well as a central repository for violence prevention data and analysis. We hope to extend the purview of the group to include cataloguing effective violence prevention and reduction strategies in use locally or elsewhere around the country, and making this information available to stakeholders to inform planning, funding, and policy decisions.
The participants of the group are:the Alameda County Public Health Department, Alameda County Social Services Agency, Alameda County Probation Department, Inter-Agency Children's Policy Council, the City of Oakland, and the Urban Strategies Council.
Initially, the group focused its efforts on collecting and analyzing data related to three particular types of violence: murder, child abuse and teen violence.
