Income and Asset Development
The Council uses all of our core organizational skills to connect low-income residents to income and asset opportunities in nearly every area of our work.
We believe that families need to be met “where they’re at”, whether that means help getting enrolled in public benefits, preparing them for and placing them in better paying-jobs, or supporting their efforts to save money for a home, small business or education expenses.
Income and Asset Development
- The Council coordinates the Alameda County Community Asset Network (Alameda County CAN), a working group of service providers, advocates, community based organizations, public agencies, and base building organizations that work in partnership and with other stakeholders committed to increasing the income and assets of Alameda County residents.
- We oversee data collection and data management for the Earn It Keep It Save It! Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit tax assistance campaign.
- The Council is developing Foreclosure Prevention Tools and Resources.
A resource sheet lists Bay Area organizations that provide counseling to homeowners facing foreclosure or predatory lending practices. A foreclosure timeline helps explain the foreclosure process.
