I. Three-Year Oakland Homicide Trends

·        Oakland homicides for the three-year period peaked at 114 in 2003, and declined by 18% in this three-year period to 94 in 2005.[1]

[1] “Total Percent Change” in each table represents the change in the raw number of homicides from 2003 to 2005. In some instances, a category being measured may decrease in raw number of incidents, but make up an increased proportion of the overall number of homicides in each year.  In viewing percentage changes, the reader should also review the raw numbers.  When the raw numbers are small, they can yield large percentage changes.
