VIII. Neighborhoods Where Incidents Occurred

·        In 2004, 53% of homicides occurred in Elmhurst (34%) and West Oakland (19%).  Fruitvale and Central East Oakland each contributed between 10% and 16% of citywide homicides, respectively.

·        In 2005, Central East Oakland and San Antonio saw the greatest increases in homicides compared to the rest of the city, increasing from 14% to 19% and 8% to 15%, respectively. The proportion of homicides occurring in North Oakland, the Northeast Hills and the Southeast Hills increased slightly.
