Health Work Group Meeting

Next Meeting: Wednesday May 11, 2005, 3:30-5:00pm at La Clinica

 

Decisions/Assignments:

  • Prior to May HWG Meeting, Kristen will draft a mission statement and send to others for review via email. Each person will review another work group’s work plan and report back at the May meeting.
    • ECE: Francell

    • Housing: Samantha
  • At the May meeting, we will discuss the communications plan (with Karen) and create a 1-2 page handout developed around the mission statement. We will then take this to the Joint Committee and other work groups in June and July.

Announcements

  • Health Insurance for Children – lobbying effort taking place in Sacramento and La Clinica and the Promotoras are participating. What is the follow up with the media?
  • MCO magazine is coming out and there is an article about asthma.

Communications Plan

  • Karen gave an overview of her need to have time on next month’s agenda in order to talk about communications and to prepare the communications plan, including media, outreach to external audiences.

 

Proposal Guidelines

  • Mara clarified that these are guidelines for organizations currently applying for grants or in the future. She will resend the guidelines document.

 

Strategic Planning Next Steps

  • Anna gave an overview of the reason we conducted the strategic planning session and what we accomplished during that session.
  • A suggestion was made that we ask Frank Farrow about the AECF definition of health.
  • The idea came up to create a mission statement and present that to other work groups and the Joint Committee, and to create a 1-2 page handout for new members. Kristen volunteered to draft the mission statement and send to the group for review.
  • Members will review other work groups’ work plans and report back at the May meeting.
